I know how dreadful it can be to search for hours only to find out about a bunch of new scams. During this time I have found several business ideas I would like to share with everyone. I have been a stay at home mom for ten years. Within this time, I have always wondered how to start my own home business. I have searched hundreds of sites trying to find legitimate home based business opportunities. Hopefully this will help you get started in your own home business. Remember we all have to begin somewhere. Don’t be too hard on yourself at first.

Photography – This shouldn’t take much money to start. If you have a camera and an eye for photography you are already on your way. Reach out to local event planners, ad agencies, etc Be creative and you will find people who need a photographer. If you have interest in photography, this is a great way to start your own home business. Companies hire freelance photographers all the time. If you have a passion for taking photos this would be perfect for you. Research what it takes to be a photographer. Just remember everything takes time.

Realtor – If you find yourself looking though the real estate section in your local paper for the fun of it, this could be your dream job. Becoming a realtor will require you to get a license, but this should not take more than 6 months. Once you have obtained your license, you can start your new company. This will require some networking, however if you are a social person you will most likely find this to be fun. The best part, you can do this from your home or you can get an office. The choice is completely up to you. You set your hours, work as little or as much as you like. Your income is directly tied to your motivation.

Interior Design – Please do your research before beginning, as you will have to be knowledgeable about design. This is a great business idea if you already have a passion for decorating. Do you find a lot of people asking your advice for home dcor? If so, this could be the business for you! Believe it or not people will pay for your expert advice.

Tutoring – If you have a talent in teaching, but dont want to go through the hassle of getting a teaching degree; then tutoring is the next best thing. Contacting local schools or simply putting an ad in your local paper will surely get you in the door. Lets face it the internet only tells us so much. Sometimes we need that expert advice and the one on one coaching that can only come from specialized help.

Wedding or event planner – Do you have an eye for fashion? Do you have fun organizing parties? Do you have a great eye for detail? Well, wedding and event planning might be the career for you! A copy of the latest wedding fashion magazine and the phone numbers to a few suppliers and you could be well on your way. You could start by advertising in local papers to do small parties and take it from there.

Translator – Companies are always looking for people to translate or transcribe information. Google has an abundance of information on starting your own business in translating. Are you good at typing? Do you have an eye for detail? If so, translating may be the job for you. If you are bi-lingual, you stand to make even more money. Specialization in certain languages or cultures is always sought after.

Catering or personal chef – You could even organize a class on kitchen basics and give a few simple recipes for people to work on. All kinds of people need help in the kitchen. Once your name gets out there and you have a good reputation, Im sure people will be lining up out your door. Are people always asking you for recipes or your famous dishes? If so, branch out by starting a catering home business, become a personal chef for hire, or offer in-home teaching lessons.
